TORANS & GATEWAYS
KRIS presents Torans &
Gateways from the desert towns of Kutch
and Bhuj of Gujarat State in India.
TORANS have been used for
centuries as an ornate decoration hung over doorways.

Torans and gateways convey
a warm welcome to all the guests coming to the house.
They also symbolise
happiness, good luck, peace and prosperity for the householder.

TORANS, the door dressings, are made from cotton.
Our artisans
embroider them in folk designs using materials like silk, pearls,
semi-precious stones,
sequins, glass beads, sea shells, metal wires, tiny mirrors etc.

Our artisans use great
skills in blending the different patches
and stitching them
together to make this awesome piece of handicraft.

Gateway arch, embroidered with
threads of different
colours to adorn entrances and doors.
